What the heart wants

734046_pTGCZTzM

Hear the heart – its pounding high
Whispering low a ceaseless sigh.
The words you spoke used to melt;
Surrendered to urges which we felt.
His eyes of crystal seldom pass;
Piercing through the heart like glass.
Blessings which our wants demand;
Like lanterns through the darkest land.
Catch me into these arms and kiss;
And save me from this cold abyss.
Your presence tastes – violaceous bait
Passion flowers of heaven’s gate.
We lie upon love’s tender porch
Sheltered from the world – its scorch

    A romantic title and passionate poem ~ I specially like:

    Your presence tastes – violaceous bait
    Passion flowers of heaven’s gate.

  4. So wonderfully romantic, 7 rhyming couplets that work in some subtle synesthesia; nice work. The poetic voice is perfectly matched to the sultry image.

    I like your use of two voices, you are narrating in one voice. Then transporting us to the moments in another. Slipping in and out of stances. For a very interesting reading. Thanks for linking in at my Sunday Lime today

    Much love…

    Wonderful! Passionate! And what a lovely word is violaceous! Is it by chance that i read of violets in another context today? At Daily Good:
    “Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” – Mark Twain –
    May your violets be whole and well.

  19. Such a passionate love song…the rhyme carried me through the burning love of this verse!

    What a great poem to read. I’d like to think that there was some personal experience to express yourself in this way as my own mind thought of such feelings of so many years ago.

    You are getting so good – really skilled – with rhyme … perhaps, that is at least partially due, to your wonderful choice of words. A lovely piece, Sanaa.

    There’s a very refined sensuality here…filled with wonderful imagery and detail. I most admire the way so much was said and implied in so few verses. Very nice work.

  29. Some clever rhymes here but underneath it all is the great use of synesthesia to add passion to the poem- especially love “your presence tastes”
