The secret of survival – the path to moderation
A power raw attained its wisdom as a shield.
Do we have to wait till both our worlds collide?
Open wide your hearts and close our huge divide.
Are we all a victim of fate or circumstance?
There’s nothing in this world which we can’t decide.
Life it sometimes offers a favor to mankind;
If there is a heart still left somewhere inside.
Without love and compassion, humanity can’t survive
Sometimes we fall apart so we can come alive.
Between our fiery passion and our burning pain;
Exists a world so cruel with all that it contains.
When we learn to accept defeat – thrive on path of success
Develop a whole new view with brighter odds – prospect
A nearer knowledge of thoughts – both high and great
Pierced through the wild, the ever whirling brain.
Eased the soul from both woe and throbbing pain.
Remember its not always the strongest who survive;
Those who survive are receptive more to change.
To them nothing is novel – nothing far too strange
Fear is an emotion essential to survive;
The natural compound which urges one to fight.
At the end of dark, long and winding tunnel;
Seems a glimmer of light – seems a glimmer of hope
Think about the time and think about the struggle.
Wicked ones are those who speak not truth but lies;
End up as victims of their own ruin – demise.
Oh! the subtle shades of Β burlesque and irony
The more that we receive – the less we shall believe
Become lost in the silken web of what we weave.
The rain and the heat, the snow and the sand
And marvels only science has power to crack.
As humans we are blessed with power to survive;
To tread upon our land along the foreign miles.
Be stubborn, determined but not so naive
Remember not to wear your heart upon a sleeve.
The eyes still see what the soul thus believes;
And there we sat and gazed – sighed oh so deep.
The fading leaves were thrilled to die;
There’s more to death than meets the eye.

A powerful poem – the last verse particularly so – we should indeed be wary of death and make the best choices we can in order not to meet him/her sooner than we are due.

Certainly survival is learning how to cope with adversity and not making the situation any worse. No matter how bad things are the plan should be how can I get through this next day. Excellent poem Sanaa.

This poem is packed with layers of wisdom. Fear is indeed a factor in survival as it triggers our natural defenses to protect ourselves from harm. The fight and flight response can be powerful.

Fear of death is a good reason to zip it and survive. During time under persecution and dictatorships this is how people and still do survive. However the thought police have never managed to invade out own private thoughts which have and will triumph in the end.

This poem has so much to say and particularly at this time when fear seems to dominate. I am amazed how quickly you can pen such a perfectly constructed poem with such insight for a prompt. A true poetic voice within you.

This felt quite a bit like a manifesto! Very striking and powerful. Gotta remember this: “Remember its not always the strongest who survive;
Those who survive are receptive more to change.
To them nothing is novel β nothing far too strange”. Great write. Thanks for the read!

Without love and compassion, humanity canβt survive
Sometimes we fall apart so we can come alive
Mankind goes through a process of getting to taste the ugly side of life. Having fallen apart will it be easier to pick the pieces and triumph! Great lines Sanaa!

Sorry I am late getting here – I had trouble getting through on the day you posted. This is an exceptionally good poem and one of my favourites of yours. Very thought-provoking, and deep. The line that knocked me out is “The eyes still see what the soul thus believes”. I cant get over how wise you are.

What you are dealing with here is the philosophic elements that usually take a full book to explicate, or justify. Kudos for sharing it is not always the warriors who survive, for the trees that bend remain standing, & there are no short-necked giraffes left in the world.

Love the line about fear being necessary to survive. In fact, I’ve heard it said that courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to continue on in the face of fear.

Humans are born
with two innate fears
of falling and heights..
all others are learned

Love is the power
that rules over fear..
