Imagine a world where there’s no food;
Where goods are scarce and much to brood.
Waffles with berries or longing for fruit;
Our world a wastage of famine, pollute.
Where goods are scarce and much to brood;
So take a step, have people recruit.
Our world a wastage of famine, pollute.
Think about the children, their future acute.
So take a step, have people recruit;
Waffles with berries or longing for fruit.
Think about the children, their future acute;
Imagine a world where there’s no food.

Nice call to arms. I hope we never get to this point, but I fear if we don’t change our ways, well, we just might. Probably from drought, and ultimately loss of livestock. Really dont want to have to eat cloned animals one of these days.
I was trying to figure the form by the rhyme scheme but I am at a loss. Nicely played.
Hello X,
Thanks for stopping by, so glad you liked it 😀
Highly appreciated, have a wonderful week!
PS: The form was Pantoum 🙂
It would be terrible and sad world without food, with all the children and adults hungry ~ Sadly it is a reality in other countries specially at war or caught between war ~

I am wondering what you are suggesting as a solution. What can we do to make sure there is enough food for future generations?

PS: Was reading an article online which was the source of my muse 🙂

And the solution is? I still am wondering what you might propose.
Well the idea of urban farming appealed to me.. it might help provide a solution 🙂
Interesting poetic form! It perfectly fits this subject. And this is one of the aspects of food – the political part. Sadly, too many go hungry all over the world. I am thankful we have several food banks and feeding programs here in town but still, people fall through the cracks or are ashamed to ask for help.
Hello Kanzen,

Ah, with the way we treat our mother earth, this doesn’t seem so far-fetched. So many in this world are already going hungry as is.

Pantoum, indeed? that’s a new one to me; it felt a bit like a sonnet. Nice message in this one; urban farming on rooftops, balconies, & spare rooms with grow lights may help this situation one day; there are some of these things going on for personal consumption right now. Growing up in the free world, I have never known real hunger or famine, but the future could have a dystopian cast to it for sure.

There’s a world out there where there indeed is no food. I see it almost everyday.
A heart wrenching write.

It’s such a tragedy that so much of hunger is logistics and politics instead of the ability to grow food.
I think I would miss watermelon above all fruits.

Sometimes i wonder how good our quality of food will be in a few years as it gets worse and worse because of a greedy food industry – just think about the lots of fruit we get nowadays that doesn’t really taste as if it has ever seen any sun.. makes me sad

Sadly, there are places in our world even today where one need not imagine because it is true. It doesn’t have to be that way as this earth provides more than enough resources for all. Nice take on the prompt. Peace, Linda

Hello Sreeja,

I don’t to have to imagine. People go hungry where the poor live alongside extraordinary wealth. The disgraceful governments who impose this type of injustice will not survive indefinitely I hope !

Perhaps we won’t have to imagine…last night on TV, I saw that NASA is saying the earth is running out of fresh water…what is worst, no food, or no water? Nicely done.

Unfortunately, it’s getting easier all the time to imagine a world without food. Those of us who live in lands of plenty too often forget that much of the world is not so lucky…and we might not remain so forever either.
