“All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” by Roy Batty, Blade Runner.

As a song that speaks of concrete and light;
that brings to attention man’s exposed condition
in a realm of growing conflict,
death is irrefutable, is evidence of a journey
that is led before time has passed.
I will never regret the yearning that accompanies.

The trees would lament, curse and sigh;
having been on the front-lines,
the honeybees sting with truth,
soulful browns of the forest and pure white
snow lost,
replaced with what ifs and nots,
so many things need to be talked about,
it’s difficult to say what comes first—
a dew drop on a rose,
sharp ridges of mountains, their high point,
they are much more difficult to climb
than hills,
for they test strength and resolve,
I wonder what words one would find inside
bosom of wind if he tried.

The politicians would scowl,
the average man smile, for each would have
something different
when it came to using their last hour, last minute,
some would spend the day
with loved ones, others use it to accomplish
never-ending wishes
off a bucket list, though exhilaration
may not be as tasteful,
the holier ones would pray, would meditate—
as though trading breath for whispers,
for just one more chance,
one more chance at salvation,
I wonder if beliefs would clash with each other
near the end?

The artists would rejoice, would paint surroundings
as never before, the musicians compose
songs that leave behind wisdom,
as for me, a Poetess
looking outside the window at the cityscape,
I would recount everything that has passed
in a poem, pastel and wild,
I would speak of lovers and foes and how
one wastes their time;
how we are taught the purpose of living
as we age on— all those moments will be lost in time,
like tears in the rain.
