Near twilight red rosebuds
turn shrubbery wild as tears
of tempest fall with endless
life.

A variety of feathered pride
can be observed gathering
by hundreds along banks
of Rio Celeste river.

I marveled at exquisite scarlet
macaws with broad wings and
curved beaks, strong enough
to devour berries, seeds, nuts
and leaves.

Flying high over canopies,
they nest in large holes and
storm-bowed trees.

The misty waterfall flows
as I hold droplets in my
palm, with beauty raging
in a torrent below me.

I longed to purify what
once was stained in a
moment’s time, the water
glowed as though lit
from within.
