Untitled (soliloquy of growing passion)

She’s got the pace
         he’s got the rhythm
a gentle song
         a blur of light
and stage embroidered with
         thousand dreams

He is cayenne pepper
          she is dirty rice
oh always one to skip advice
         through sweltering summer
winter rain
        passion sweeps world again

Oh my gosh, this is amazing, Sanaa!

    I adore this:
    “He is cayenne pepper
    she is dirty rice”

Perfect combo … especially if you’re dancing with someone special.

  4. Frank says:

I liked the rhyme sounds in the second stanza. The word “light” in the first stanza made a sonic connection with “rice” and “advice” in the second stanza tying them together for me.

  5. Walter Marks says:

That’s great, they are polar opposites and blend together in harmony. And so true as well. I think it’s worked out that way for us. I like the phrase, “He is cayenne pepper
she is dirty rice”. Beautiful word picture

  6. Grace says:

    Love the passionate dance specially:

    He is cayenne pepper
    she is dirty rice

  7. The dance is Latin, as is the passion; encountered a lot of sensuality out here on the trail. Pepper as a Muse has a lusty side.

  8. Love the images of the dance showing their personalities. Lovely poem.

  15. There is so much movement and teasing of the senses in your Quadrille, Sanaa – I think I should have read it last night rather than first thing this morning before marking exam papers again! Pepper is prompting some hot and exciting poetry. I love the lines:
    ‘He is cayenne pepper
    she is dirty rice’.
