Digging deep inside the heart;
Known never to be apart.
The heart can not conceal;
Having secrets to reveal.
Digging deep into the past;
The heart beating so fast.
For then the spell was cast.
Scattered among the stars;
Pictures of the past.
Fallen to the knees;
Hear the gentle breeze.
The passion and the zeal;
We soon began to feel.
Voicing our consent;
Pictures of the past.

Pictures of the past can def ring heavy with memory. We keep a box of pictures that my sons pull out occassionally and ask to hear the stories behind them. Their history. And there are other times, I am glad we never took a picture. Ha.

Funny story, my second marriage has lasted 21 years now. When we married my stepdaughters had 12 years of family photos tossed into a large cardboard box. Silly me, I bought a bunch of photo albums & sorted them all out, bit the newer ones, pre-digital, were tossed back in the old box. Over half of the photos I had put in albums were taken out, enjoyed, & tossed back in the cardboard box–so much for my good intentions.

I have read this as rather a love story. A lover who cannot voice out nor express the love s/he has for the other. But, love will find a way for sure to reveal itself sooner or later. Thanks for the poem, Sanaa!

Your line, “scattered among the stars” in relation to pictures of the past reminds me of a quote I find comfort in. It says, “Memories are like stars in the black night of sorrow.”

Pictures – and memories – I find lilacs, or the scent of hot chocolate among other things conjure up the past too.
Some treasures reside solely within us.
