In the depths of despair

And the cup which filled the spirit
with hope was stained red,
as murmured voices reach out to
break the silence.

It’s easy to wallow in the depths
of despair as memories flutter in
and out like ghosts,
though the sullen part is beating
one’s fist against the casement
renouncing dreams and claims.

Dissolved in chaos the eyes create
a new language that begs
weave a future from the muddled
past.

  1. I like your interpretation of the image, Sanaa, and love the lines:
‘It’s easy to wallow in the depths
of despair as memories flutter in
    and out like ghosts’
    and,
‘Dissolved in chaos the eyes create
    a new language that begs
weave a future from the muddled
    past’.

I like how you started with a focus on the cup and then put a story to go with it. This offers hope but does not look past the despair. Nice balance.

It’s amazing how the time varies for differing situations aand persons but it transcends from resentment to dissapointment to dispair and hate. But HAPPY DAY, it gradually works back the other way. Generally though, there is not complete healing and forgiveness.
