In hue of sombre afternoon

At intervals he sighs, raises brow in anticipation;
a habitual gesture,
a foible, a trait disagreeable
for most
but captivating
to the Poet in meβ€”
deep-set, his eyes speak in sonnets
while outside
bulrushes become bare,
tell me,
is this in any way, fair?

    What poetry, sonnets no less, that he writes on persona’s heart just by sighing and gazing is definitely UN-fair, except, of course to the persona Poet who hears and hears and hears! Beautifully written, Sanaa, as always.
