His Scent

Now that I have breathed in you,
my senses
no longer respond to any other sound or scent;
blatant berries complain,
blushing furiously outsideβ€”I am not sure
what it is about you that beguiles

only that
there is distinct drumming inside my temples.

    Love the way the verse echoes that stark image and the sense of being overwhelmed.

  26. An extension of the “breath of life” of giving into someone along with someone being a part of you as the heartbeat “drumming” on one’s temples.

    The scent can last a lifetime, can it not?
