A Quiet Bloom at Dusk

I keep a quiet bloom hidden beneath my ribs,
where dusk
hums like distant trains–
it opens only when I forget to be careful,
spilling soft light through
every crack,
teaching my darkness how to breathe,
how to become
something tender, something unafraid, again.
