Untitled (from dreams and beyond)

and just like that I was swept away
as sugar maple whispers to the lake
   pointing to a piercing gaze
                               and most wanton sigh

I fleet fast and perish like the ebbing sun
holding dear emotions of the past
‘what is life but a pleasant dream’
death winked and squeezed
                                           my fingertips

Pray once
             pledge twice adamant lips
‘as enamoured soul at ease with love’
and though I may or not respond
           look to the stars
                                         and far beyond.

My comment disappeared because I didn’t notice the 15+9 prompt! I said wonderful things about this poem and especially the last verse which may be the best you have ever written. How wonderful that you have many years ahead of you! How wonderful that we can find you in your poems.
