This is how it’s going to be

Between the strokes of dawn
October sighs,
graceful boughs with prettiest of charcoal sketches
as feeling growsβ€”
I would open a vein for you;
if it meant to shield you from the hypocrisies of the world,
fidelity dark amber is a blanket of sorts.

    Oh, what a strong poem… showing how passion is very close to death… the dark theme of love is often forgotten for the more flowery parts.

    Lot’s of interesting contrasts here – ‘prettiest skies’ with ‘I’d open a vein for you’ – fidelity / hypocrisy – 44 words is so short – but packed with ideas here.

    Powerful, powerful piece, Sanaa. Not a wasted breath here (you know I admire brevity, right?) nor a less-than-stellar image. And all of that excellence accompanied by some outstanding artwork. My evening is complete. Thanks.

    The words are as visceral as the painting, more so as they offer comfort and protection from the world.

    The rights of darkness to protect unwanted hues that may be embarrassing to be revealed. It works that way, yes and a great poem, Sanaa!
