Between the strokes of dawn
October sighs,
graceful boughs with prettiest of charcoal sketches
as feeling growsβ
I would open a vein for you;
if it meant to shield you from the hypocrisies of the world,
fidelity dark amber is a blanket of sorts.

visceral and very powerful last line Sanaa
Thank you so much, Laura π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
Oh, what a strong poem… showing how passion is very close to death… the dark theme of love is often forgotten for the more flowery parts.
Thank you so much, Bjorn π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ

Lot’s of interesting contrasts here – ‘prettiest skies’ with ‘I’d open a vein for you’ – fidelity / hypocrisy – 44 words is so short – but packed with ideas here.
Thank you so much, Peter π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
Sanaa really love those first two lines and the emotional intensity of your poem <3

Powerful, powerful piece, Sanaa. Not a wasted breath here (you know I admire brevity, right?) nor a less-than-stellar image. And all of that excellence accompanied by some outstanding artwork. My evening is complete. Thanks.
That is such high praise! Thank you so much, Ron π so glad you enjoyed it. πβ€οΈ
The words are as visceral as the painting, more so as they offer comfort and protection from the world.
Thank you so much, Dora π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
to shield you from the hypocrisies of the world,
fidelity dark amber is a blanket of sorts.
The rights of darkness to protect unwanted hues that may be embarrassing to be revealed. It works that way, yes and a great poem, Sanaa!
