There are some who adore the dazzling
sun, a time when beard-tongue and lily
have just opened.
Not me.
My love’s for winter when theΒ trees are
clothed in pearly white, sigh when rosy
cheeked we huddle close together and
pull woolen hats over our ears.
The pewter sky, feral wind and singular
desire of knowing describe the weather
of the heart.
There is beauty in life and all its seasons
must we affiliate sorrow, conflict and
feeling?
I drank in loneliness and droplets of rain
grateful for time and clearer perspective;
for winter though austere, taught me joy
needs only finding.

Well I figured you might take us to the heart of the matter Sanaa and I was not disappointed. A clever metaphoric exploration. I agree that austerity can help us with our gratitude..

Winter can be wild and this is my favourite part- The pewter sky, feral wind and singular
desire of knowing describe the weather of the heart. The wind can be feral…at school when it is windy the kids can be feral…

This is your usual eloquent self. Yes, we can appreciate finding joy after a period of famine or poverty of spirit. Good one!

Very nice reading, Sanaa. And joy often is found in winter.
Some like the .summer sun, it makes things grow. Other stoic beings like their white chilling snow,
I’ll take spring where the brown turns green
And the green becomes greener. Snow has gone.
..
