Milk Moon ~ Part One: The Chosen One

I am fairly misunderstood;
owing to my sharp tongue and never-ending stardust in my bones.
Ninth house of the zodiac,
I am both fire and ice wrapped in the ocean’s breath—
wanderer by night,
I am trained in the language of the heart;
the dirt remembers my fingerprints, the sky my temperament—
I see you
your laughter and your pain;
I am the kind of rain that falls soft at first, harder
when required.
Dance with me, for the world is weary and everybody in the end
deserves a reboot,
a chance to rewind as mauve sunset crosses the city
and becomes lost in a row of lamplit faces—
I am Sagittarius.

    I must stand to applaud this fiery anthem of self-knowledge. One of my favourites of the month, and congratulations to your determination to write a poem every day of such high quality.

    Ah the personality of the archer sounds very intriguing An amazing poem and the following lines are stunning

    and becomes lost in a row of lamplit faces”

  3. We both went for the stars! A beautiful ode to Sagittarius, Sanaa. I love the opening line, which hooked me immediately, and sets the tone of the poem. I love the phrases ‘never-ending stardust in my bones’, ‘wanderer by night’ and ‘lost in a row of lamplit faces’.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much, Kim 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️

  4. Are you, now? My rising sign is Sag. Might be one reason we get on so well. 🙂

    Hopefully you don’t care if you are misunderstood. We are all individuals that are creative in our own way. Let those without imagination copy but I want to try something new!

  9. You have captured the essence of Sagittarius so well. My mother, God rest her soul was one. This is my favorite line because it is perfect: “I am both fire and ice wrapped in the ocean’s breath—
    wanderer by night,’

    1. Sanaa says:

      May her kind soul rest in peace. Amen. Thank you so much, Linda 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️

    This was a fun to read poem, Sanaa. I am never “fairly misunderstood,” my mind doesn’t tolerated that being fair. My feelings get hurt, my chest hurts, and I get short on breath. Just thinking about that gives me a twinge of that.
    I am a Scorpio but I may not fit it very good.

      Thank you so much, Jim 🙂 so glad the poem resonated with you ❤️

    I very much enjoyed this poem of self knowledge … written with insight and depth. And I loved the captivating contrasts. You took this piece is a fascinating direction.

    I think everyone should take the time to pursue a similar course of self reflection … and then decide if that is how they want to ‘be’ on this earth … or if they are in need of a rewrite. ~ smiles ~

      Thank you so much, Wendy 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
