Methought I observed the moon descending last night

In the darkness
I spiraled around your thoughts,
undaunted
as sleep sought to appear as shadow upon chocolate irises
this adoration is sacred
yet the moon is neither glad nor civil
and for the longest hour
I was unsure how to describe its glout, civil as a grapefruit
pale in its resentment
but peaceable as marked by public order,
I find myself
defiant and melted pink until the wee hours of the morning.
