In city of grey mists and unfulfilled desires

Night is emblem of death, discord and delirium,
yet I allowed myself
to tread
along darkening streets of cobblestone
as thoughts of you
caress burning skin– I whispered your name
longing for you
to unfurl me as petals of unadulterated rose
and deep conversation.

  9. lynn says:

You brought beauty and desire from cobblestone streets.

  10. That’s an effective, alliterative list of three, Sanaa: ‘death, discord and delirium’. A dark beginning to a romantic poem that ends with:.
‘…unfurl me as petals of unadulterated
    rose and deep conversation’.

  11. Thotpurge says:

    unadulterated rose… like that!

  14. Cara O' Donoghue says:

The last two lines are especially resonant.

  18. Rall says:

Very seductive and lovely poem. All I can say is KL is inspiring some sensual poetry:) Have not been there for decades. Use to stay at Batu Ferringhi in Penang. At the time there were only two hotels there…yes that long ago. Beautiful place back then.

  23. Raw sensuality softened a bit by those rose petals.

  24. Jim says:

A beautiful yet wistful 44, Sanaa. Walking the darkened street can be very scary. I remember walking back to our hotel at 39th Street and 9th Avenue quite late at nights. Dark, quiet, and desolate.

  25. This is beautiful sensuality.

  26. Lona Gynt says:

A lot of the comments talk about the visual richness, and it is true, you draw from a rich palette of dark and beautiful shades, but I was struck by the tactile sensuality, the rose brings an image not only of color but of a velvet feel, and the description of the skin whispering out to the night. So beautiful.

  27. Love and lust are such delicious dangers. We see their teeth, but we still jump in for the kiss. Even if we know the bite will eventually get us.

  28. gillena says:

Deeply sensous. Lovely imagery. Sanaa thank you for dropping by and linking up at Monday WRites today
