His lips are petal, are thirst

Only time will tell,
residue of longing, luscious, on the edge of lower lip
is truth,
is fallaciousness,
chained in curiosity or is merely an illusionβ€”
your lambent green eyes
generate
a slight intake of breath
and before I could realize, I lost track of time.
Come, strip the night of indecision,
sometimes we just let it slip awayβ€”
this love of mine is as old as the hills, cutting deep
into poetry that sings,
I suppose it makes sense
considering
I see your name and say it softly out loud;
silvered, like the moon
even the smallest traces of you make me radiate,
make me glow,
you say

I leave lipstick notes without a care in the worldβ€”
only time will tell.

Oh wow! As I always say you write one of the best romantic poems and this is no exception. The yearning, the loss of time track, thirst for the lips….gosh all so beautiful…

  2. I’m echoing Vandana’s “Oh wow!” Especially when I got to this line: “this love of mine is as old as the hills”. Somehow, your poems makes the old phrase fresh and relatable. There is nothing tired or clichΓ© about love that makes us feel like it has been in our heart since the world was made.

Great take on the prompt, Sanaa. I love it!

Thank you so much, Magaly πŸ˜€ so glad you enjoyed it πŸ’„β€οΈ

(and thank you for the glorious prompt) 🌹

  3. Yes,it’s gorgeous – and vey well done, to make several clichΓ©s seem fresh.

  4. Romantic and beautiful, you’ve done it again, Sanaa! I especially enjoyed:
    β€˜your lambent green eyes
    generate
    a slight intake of breath
and before I could realize, I lost track of time’
    and
β€˜this love of mine is as old as the hills’.

  5. Thotpurge says:

I love the close, Sanaa… lipstick notes make for a very vivid image.

  6. I, too, greatly admire the lipsticky notes, and the way you open & close with the same line. Well done, Sanaa!

  7. Helen Dehner says:

Only time will tell … brings back warm, wonderful memories of my grandmother ~~ cannot estimate how often she said it. Your poem is beautiful.

  8. Bev says:

“Strip the night of indecision” … is that a new clichΓ© or an old one that’s new to me? Whichever, I like it! You DO do romance well, my friend!

  9. Lori says:

Oh… “strip the night of indecision” as if there isn’t any choice in the matter at all. Only time will tell one way or the other. So delightful in its seduction as it slips away, as time is wont to do.

  10. Yours is seductive, and romantic too. You certainly put those cliches into good use. πŸ˜€ <3

  11. Rommy says:

Being in love plays with our notions of time. All we know is any time spent with our beloved is time spent in heaven.

  12. gillena says:

Luv the whisper that is “silvered, like the moon”

    Happy Wednesday Sanaa

    MuchπŸ’love

  13. Sigh, you write romance like no one else. “this love of mine is as old as the hills, cutting deep into poetry that sings” Just one line of the many I love…

  14. Old Egg says:

In so many of your poems Sanaa, you write so well of love and emotions. I always feel that yearning in your expressive words and the sadness they portray.

  15. “lipstick notes”… beautiful as is the painting!

  16. This encompasses so much:
“Come, strip the night of indecision,
sometimes we just let it slip awayβ€”
this love of mine is as old as the hills, cutting deep
    into poetry that sings,”

The longing and invitation asking to remove the indecision that exists between two, while the comfort and reassurance of love that exists.
Yes, “time will tell” but is there enough time? Another well-versed soft veil of passion, Sanaa.

  17. “even the smallest traces of you make me radiate,
    make me glow”

    I love this; wonderful!
