Coaxing the night open

Coax the night open with your breathโ€”
a slow unbuttoning of shadows
as fingers trace
the hush
beneath the skin.

I ache for what stays hidden,
aim for hunger
unreturnedโ€” feeling the dark press close,
as I wait for you to turn towards me.
