I haven’t the heart to disregard
not when you’re smiling at me
from across the miles.
Your crumpled hair and deep-
set eyes as we bask ‘neath the
merciful skies, I am constantly
aware of passing time wishing
hours would come to a halt.
Although prompted to write a
poem or two before bed how can
I repress the idea of curling up
to watch episodes of ‘Homeland’
and sometimes when you’re asleep
long to grasp you into these arms,
confess to mistakes uncommitted,
lest love brings us lament and
storms.
There’s comfort in quarrels chaos in
silence, I haven’t the heart to disre-
gard not when you’re smiling at me
from across the miles.

Sometimes the closer we are farther we have to reach. And the farther in distance the closer we can seem in our minds and in our hearts. This poem illuminates that so well. Fine work.

It’s often not about who’s right and who’s wrong. Love may be blind, but not ignorant. Enjoyed myself tremendously in reading this piece. Many thoughts and emotions that’s genuinely felt. Bravo!
