Brawne

I ask heaven and the stars above
Oh bring me sweet fulfillment
For I have waited eagerly ―
To precipitate in love.

There we stood along the pastures met
I recall ― sombre but mostly silent
Your wild, impenetrable spirit
But then I wake, shiver with sigh
Oh where m I? I m all alone.

Box of diaries and wane letters
Hope seemed to cling on fulgid skies
I wished my love had you not fled
My life and joy, its colors ―
‘Neath moor they lie but dead.

Oh I attain to utter forth in verse
Hold close the lines of Endymion
Hear you praise ’tis so, tis true’
Ye drew the soul unto your blue

Sickly I ponder upon your tomb
Observe as snows succeed the rose
Upon my brow I felt soft a kiss
I wonder was it you or wind ―

I ask heaven and the stars above
Oh bring me sweet fulfillment
For I have waited eagerly ―
To precipitate in love.

  1. I love the cyclic structure of your poem, Sanaa, opening and ending with the same stanza, and the language:
‘Box of diaries and wane letters
Hope seemed to cling on fulgid skies’
    and
‘Sickly I ponder upon your tomb
Observe as snows succeed the rose’
all written in the spirit of the Romantic poets. Beautifully done.

    Much love x
