World Within

No sooner did I close my eyes
the world around me swung
Sensation takes over as I begin to float
in a pool of words just words and words
The stars swirl downwards as though
descending from blissful heavens
I watch as universe heals around me
flooding darkness into light
Oh soft as tulip’s tongue
love spoke where hate had sprung
amid gentle streams of verse
a hidden voice now sung
No sooner did I close my eyes
the world around me swung
Sensation takes over as I begin to float
in a pool of words just words and words

  1. Vinay Leo R. says:

I love the world I can dream of in the darkness once I close my eyes. πŸ™‚ Though I don’t quite know if I can remember it as vividly as you have. Nicely written. πŸ˜€

  3. My dreams can vary, but definitely my passions do appear within them. Yes, sometimes it is words that are the focal point, writing on invisible paper, in the dust, on stucco walls, or cafe napkins, or my photography takes center stage, & incredible images appear, a kaleidoscope, cavalcade, or dream album, some of my images already taken & reviewed, others yet to be encountered. Terrific take on the prompt.

  4. I love the flow of this poem, Sanaa, especially when the rhyme takes over:

No sooner did I close my eyes
    the world around me swung’.

It has a Shakespearean ring to it. πŸ™‚
