From the depths of cold, wet petals fly

Bit of accidental charm;
could it be that buttercups discern all that’s deep
and dark willingly,
that ashes mean only to encourage us to reform,
sensing remorseβ€”
a Poet’s mind like fire
burns constantly,
in a land of thought
even as everything’s falling apart.

  19. a Poet’s mind like fire burns constantly,

    Sanaa, I didn’t go in this direction with my poem, but I was thinking of something very similar – the idea that we’re like wicks and the poems are like the burning (but endless in this case) wax that we pull up towards the flame…

    Your poem is lovely!
