Untitled (swirling snow and broken heart)

I picture your smile amidst the swirling snow,
one that made the view outside seem less cold
remember days when nothing was impossible,
not even sun glittering from behind grey skies.
Echo of memories replace what had been once,
now that you are gone.

A sad poem… the echo of all those missed opportunities

Perhaps those opportunities were meant to be missed 🙂 thanks for stopping by, Bjorn ❤️

  3. Another sad poem. The idea of the echo, reminding us of something gone, is so powerful.

  4. I don’t know which is worse: an echo of memories of a time long gone, or that day when the echo finally fades into silence and no memory at all. Very nice take on this prompt.

Thank you so much, Linda 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️

(I agree whole-heartedly with your view)

  5. Such a sad Quadrille, Sanaa. I really like the lines:

So familiar. Remember the days? Yes, I do, and I try not to forget them by keeping that belief alive.

  13. Great quadrille–but for me it doesn’t resonate with sadness–rather the beloved is gone, perhaps passed on–and your shared memories constitute raw hope, accommodation, leaving speaker & reader with a warm spot under their heavy jacket; smile.

I know it’s crazy, but the thing I first thought of was the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Him smiling in thin air without his body. Your picture paints the view of the past materializing out of thin air. Beautiful!

Ah… this makes me feel grateful to be heading into spring.

  24. The melancholy you’ve weaved into this wee piece is as thick as the blood of heartbreak. So much pain contained in those dark clouds, in the absence of the sun…

A nice read, Sanaa. Things no longer here were to be recalled, seeming bigger than they were. Amplified by the echos ever present, like ringing in the ear.
