there is the determination of the strong persona, very necessary in the jungles of today’s wilds

    much love…

  2. Susan says:

Bless you. It is a mystery indeed And I love the phrase “a lie reduced to practice.”

  3. Julian says:

    Brilliant opening two lines
“Deception in the course of life is
merely a lie reduced to practice.” another good poem Sanaa.

  4. Sumana Roy says:

deception is well defined here, a predator indeed & so is the good pronouncement “I fall not prey”….nice thoughts Sanaa…

  5. Jae Rose says:

Such a concentrated and strong poem – like the sky..she has strength..being predator or prey is often a state of mind as well as physical – aptly displayed here

  6. Mary says:

Such strong words! I do like the idea of refusing to fall as prey. We do have some control over our own destiny indeed.

  7. “I…refuse to fathom and fall as prey” is such a wonderful line! Yay! Loved this.

  8. Old Egg says:

A very strong response, let’s hope no-one breaks your heart Sanaa…or have they?

  9. jasmin says:

wow, a real emotional poem, how many false disguises are put upon us, :))

  10. Maria says:

“refuse to fathom and fall as prey…” ~ ooh, I love the fierceness of this piece, Sanaa! Beautifully done! 😀

  11. panchali says:

Brilliant!! All deception in the course of life is indeed nothing else but’ a lie reduced to practice’…Beautifully said, Sanaa!

  12. kanzensakura says:

The first two lines….wow. Refusal to be prey, recognition of repeated lies….short, wise, and powerful. Again….wow.

  13. lillian says:

“Take hope away from human heart
observe as men transform to beast.”

Powerful lines. And yes, we must not fall prey to deception. We are rational beings and critical listening is key these days.

    Excellent thoughtful poem!

  14. Nan Mykel says:

Right on! I blame some of it on evolution, but without evolution we wouldn’t be here, would we? That doesn’t help broken hearts.

  15. I wonder if predators know they’re predators. They say things like, “I honestly felt that way at the time.” I wonder. Maybe they’re just morons hungry souls just grabbing what right is in front of them thinking that the next thing they ingest will satisfy them and then, of course, it doesn’t. Beautiful write of the darker elements out there!

  16. Gayle Walters Rose says:

I admire the strength and fortitude in this to “not fall prey.” I’m right there with you, Sanaa…thank you for your inspirational poem today.

  17. scott hastie says:

Hi there dear Sanaa, Enjoyed this a lot… “A lie… a lie reduced to practice…” Very very strong! With Best Wishes

  18. Bjorn Rudberg says:

Oh I do love when you look into the dark part of human hearts… the lies, the words, and those men who gain from being worst.

  19. The predatory nature of this is a different slant than I expected, but did you express this perfectly. Superb work, Sanaa!

  20. lynn says:

Powerful commentary on the human heart, Sanaa. Despair will destroy us, we choose hope!

  21. Interesting piece. And I loved the photo. 🙂

  22. I was about to say what Victoria has said. I think many deceivers deceive themselves as well. Perhaps some of what we see as deception is actually a lack of self-awareness on the part of the deceiver. The end result is the same, however, for the theme of your poem. https://judydykstrabrown.com/2016/08/11/surfaces/

  23. ayala says:

Deception a hard hurdle. Good write.

  24. Raivenne says:

“a lie reduced to practice.” Oh that gutted me. I know this too well. Excellent write, Sanaa.

  25. Shadia says:

    Well done.

  26. Wendy Bourke says:

A powerful and insightful piece and your title is so eloquent. Wisdom often comes at a terrible piece – but once gleaned – one does not fall prey, ever again.

  27. Freya says:

Yes, it hurts so much when we see through somebody like that.

  28. Maja says:

short but straight to the point – very truthful and it does raises question of how do live our lives.

  29. Bryan Ens says:

Those first 2 lines are a powerful “hook”. They drew me in immediately

  30. Sue Anderson says:

I like the strength here, the determination to keep standing.

  31. This is a new approach, Sanaa, which I like very much, particularly the lines:
‘It’s strange how often a heart is / broken having pierced the crude/ and false disguise.’

  32. kaykuala h says:

a heart is broken after having
pierced the crude and false disguise

How often one gets frustrated or on point of despair over false pretenses. But there is certainly hope to keep on moving!

    Hank

  33. Barry D. says:

Deep, profound, and strong words. I had to read it a few times… much to take in.

  34. Wow! This is excellent, Sanaa! I really admire your control of thought, making it much more powerful. ❤

  35. gillena says:

    Happy Sunday Sanaa
i am happy you dropped in at my Sunday Lime today, i did an edit though; i changed the video, and posted one of Cleopatra at the 2016 Olympics

    much love..
