Song of a maiden amongst many others

A swirl of mulberry pink transfigured the sky
as the sun
slowly sank below the horizon
leaving behind a silver of silence and fear,
I am the heartbeat of courage,
bearer of hope and song of the open road
born in the arms of December,
I know not these fears that you speak of,
though I imagine Lucifer would be down
in the doldrums
upon learning the existence of such a little one,
there is nothing more frightening
than knowing you have no power over a soul
that compares to a yellow rose.
