Guilty Pleasure

Mid smothered sighs, beckon to wind
smiles play around corner of your lips.
Guilty pleasure, smoked strawberries
beguile me to carry your world on hips.

I know your design, greed and lust
monsters that madly sweep the sky.
You forget they can not please this eye.

Though ardor, raging, gushed as sea
Love, advise me not on how to speak-
Guilty pleasure, gourmet blue cheese
observe as you try to soothe and tease.

I know your design, greed and lust
monsters that madly sweep the sky.
You forget they can not please this eye.

Such an interesting blend of sensory imagery, Sanaa. The choral effect of your repeated stanza creates a subtle contrast to your guilty pleasures stanza. A most intriguing poem.

  2. paul scribbles says:

Interesting dance between those monsters who cannot please and the guilty pleasures.

  3. Bjorn Rudberg says:

I feel that there are ways to battle the monsters… that you can be immune…

  4. kanzensakura says:

I like the fact that you mixed sensual with scary, disgusting with flavorful. The use of your repeated stanza adds the feel of an old Greek chorus. Well done!

  5. Fireblossom says:

    Good stuff, Sanaa. 🙂

  6. You bring a hope in this.

  7. gillena says:

Luv the comparison in the images you juxtaposed
    Very interesting Sanaa

    Much love…

Hey Sanaa ~~ Greed and Lust are monsters of their own right. Yes, they can destroy one not well grounded in a belief that can not be shaken.
I smiled when you wrote of “gourmet blue cheese observ(ing) as you try to soothe and tease” as being a tempter. Of course I love blue cheese in all the ways that I know of.

  9. Greed and lust monsters, bearing smoked strawberries – a sensual poem, Sanaa. 🙂

  10. Old Egg says:

My you sound so strong and determined Sanaa, have you no weakness?

    • Sanaa says:

Thank you so much Robin ❤️ One thing I have learned in life is never to show signs of weakness, especially not when someone’s trying their best to bring out my worst side. Don’t give anyone the satisfaction of knowing they have any sort of control over you! ❤️

  11. Julian says:

Love your take on monster, I’m hungry now for all those naughty things. Most enjoyable read

  12. Thotpurge says:

blue cheese and smoked strawberry monsters… not among my guilty pleasures…though there are tons of others..too many sadly 🙂

  13. Jae Rose says:

    What a sensual feast

  14. Mary says:

This really speaks of your strength, Sanaa. It is really good not to be seduced by the ‘monsters’ all around.

  15. Love the image of those monsters sweeping the sky. The repeated lines are very effective in underlining the strength in this poem’s message.

  16. “Guilty pleasure…
beguile me to carry your world on hips.”

This is the kind of imagery that stays with a soul forever and ever and ever… Gorgeous!

  17. Rob says:

A very sensuous and dangerously tempting poem.

  18. Rommy says:

Oh sure, it’s fun to indulge in a guilty pleasure every now and again, but often they won’t sate what it is one is truly hungering for. Delightfully wry piece Sanaa.

  19. ayala says:

    Sensual….Nicely done!

  20. Wendy Bourke says:

Passionate and sensual – it reads like a guilty pleasure.

  21. Cressida says:

Blue gourmet cheese can pack on the pounds…..A roly poly is not pleasing to the eye. Wait until you get old Saana and then you can over indulge in gourmet cheese and strawberries, carry the entire universe on your hips and no one cares:)

  22. Ah, those delicious guilty pleasures. Well done.

  23. They please my eye! And my imagination. As do your words. 🙂

  24. Vinay Leo R. says:

It’s harder to resist temptation, easier to fall to those monsters, unless you’re aware of that. Eloquently woven.

  25. annell4 says:

A little monster balances a life!
