A Poet’s Love

Spread the love

In the cavern of my heart, you flow
like a river deep; calling only when
all around is silent.

You’re faint hope, perhaps a flower
or impassioned dream. Let me past
jagged thorns, while world outside
is bound by sleep.

Whispers of love, rekindled flow, as
though gardens that revel in spring.
You’re verse that blooms among my
thoughts, surging through as pulse-
like waves.

Like a prayer sealed upon sweet lips,
you’re moon and sun both wreathed
in one. Perhaps a hymn, as though a
sacred song.

In the cavern of my heart, you flow
like a river deep; calling only when
all around is silent.

The longing in this is wonderful… also love how you paint this in contrast… love is so complicated.. like sun and moon together…

  2. paul scribbles says:

In the cavern of my heart, you flow
like a river deep; calling only when
    all around is silent.

That would have been enough for me. It stands all by itself. It could be a song to self. So beautiful. The additional stanzas flow out from this source as would river and find their way home again.

Thank You for this beautiful take on the prompt Sanaa.

‘In the cavern of my heart, you flow

    a true beauty Sanaa :o)

  4. Frank Hubeny says:

I liked the sound of this: “You’re moon and sun both wreathed
in one”. Nice formatting of the poem in nearly equal length lines that seemed to flow like the river in the movie.

  5. Gina says:

love creates such emotions in us and you captured it so lovingly here and using the river as a visual in our minds, so tender and deep longing for something so divine.

  6. Maria says:

Oh dear.. Sanaa this is one heartfelt piece ❀ Such longing.. ah… I especially love these lines:

Like a prayer sealed upon sweet lips,
you’re moon and sun both wreathed
in one. Perhaps a hymn, as though a
    sacred song.

Love the ending Sanaa! It gives a picture of an emphatic person who cares for others when called upon

    This is so lovely:

“In the cavern of my heart, you flow
like a river deep; calling only when
    all around is silent.”

—I agree with Paul entirely. It’s so beautiful that it could stand all on its own and be enough.

  9. Rommy says:

Sanaa, this is delightful. It has an almost mythic feel to it. I am reminded of bards of old dancing with their muses and compelled to spill their joy onto a page.

  10. Julian says:

A beautiful piece here , Sanaa. Oh how the heart can feel so cavernous with want for love. I really liked your 2nd stanza. Thanks for another fine poem.

  11. Bev says:

“…like a sacred song … in the cavern of my heart” Your beautiful words accompanied by the sound of tumbling water created a wonderful moment in time!

  12. HA says:

Such a lovely and heart warming verse. I loved the refrain. The accompaniment with the sound of the waters cascading down is well thought. There’s a certain melancholic touch to it which makes reading it such a bittersweet experience. πŸ™‚

The calling in the silence has scriptural undertones. Painting the whole scenario blessed

Thanks for dropping by my Sunday Standard today Sanaa

    Much love…

WOW!! The end result is that it is truly inspirational…and to inspire means to put your breath into …and that is what you have done here… A very beautiful piece, Sanaa!! Luv this…
