I gather my words from the depths
of heart, allowing emotion to cross
its boundaries.
like scent of roses
oh as burning fire
like raging waves
like light of moon
I gather courage from unpetaled
crocus, allowing strength to seep
into my bones.
to bear pangs of love
and console and ease
to sail through storms
and adorn rays of sun
And when words seem not enough
of love
let your heartbeat reach his ears
let your eyes reflect your desires
let your touch convey its warmth
of anger
let your silence reverberate calm
allow lips to control its language
and your eyes hold back its tears
of sorrow
grab some tissues for the eyeliner
let your woes drown in ice-cream
and remember not to dial your ex
‘A colorful remark
isn’t half bad either.’

Sanaa, this is a delightful departure for you, and I loved it!
Thank you so much, De 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I was thinking the same thing that De wrote. This was a delight. Love the little snippet about not dialing your ex. You do touch upon an array of human emotion in this, Sanaa.
Thank you so much, Victoria 😀 so good to see you ❤️
(and thank you for the lovely prompt)
Ah, what better way to deal with woes than to submerge them in ice cream. Great idea … and a beautiful write.
Thank you so much, Beverly 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
This line “I gather courage from unpetaled
crocus, allowing strength to seep
into my bones” says so much in so few words – I had to read it several times to soak in the feel and the meaning. Sensational poem!
Awww!❤️ Thank you so much, Jilly 😀 so glad you liked it!❤️
Yes, a fun departure for/from you; really enjoyed the complexity & message. One of the great side effects of hanging around dVerse long enough is that each of us stretches our talent & our poetic parameters.
Definitely❤️ thanks for stopping by, Glenn 🙂
I really like the last one, “remember not to dial your ex”, truly wise words. Ice cream can soothe some of the hurt, he or she will just cause more sorrow.
Thank you so much, Walter 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
Different, and unique, Sanaa. Love your ending, and of course, the mention of ice cream!
Thank you so much, Sara 😀 so good to see you ❤️
Gathering courage from unpetaled crocus is such an unexpected image. I love it!
Thank you so much, Jane 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I also liked the part about the ice-cream and dialing the ex. You might want to put the ex on your phone’s auto-reject list. Just to make sure.
Thank you so much, Frank 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
Oh the ice cream line is great. Reminds of a song by Sarah McLachlan
Thank you so much, Bjorn 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
I really enjoyed this Sanaa.
Thank you so much, Paul 🙂 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
I loved the last stanza so much…poem has a peaceful feel to it even when it has that break up in it!
Thank you so much, Sreeja 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
“And when words
seem not enough
…..”
Luv the tone of Khalil Gibran as you shift into the second mode of your sequence
Have a nice Sunday
much love…
Thank you so much, Gillena 😀 so glad you liked it ❤️
You too, have a nice Sunday 🙂
much love…
And yet you embrace the words so beautifully 🙂
Thank you so much, Jae 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
Resisting the urge to dial one’s ex is a courageous act indeed!
Definitely❤️ thanks for stopping by, MMT 🙂
I especially love the suggestion for handling anger. Beautifully done.

Thank you so much, ZQ 🙂 so glad you liked it ❤️
You have articulated emotions that all of us are familiar with – but may not find the words to express them – and have done so beautifully. An awesome write!
Awww!❤️ Thank you so much, Wendy 😀 so glad you enjoyed it!❤️
Enjoyed it all very much – and particularly the surprising, down-to-earth humour at the end.
Thank you so much, Rosemary 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️
Haha….love the sassiness in this 😛
Thank you so much, C.C 😀 I enjoyed writing this ❤️
If the first heartbreak is bad none that follow are any easier. That is the problem with love…it hurts. Despite that we still come back for more…and more, for what are we without love?
Definitely ❤️ thanks for stopping by, Robin 🙂
Pleasantly simple language this time, Sanaa, a departure from your usual. Great!
Hank
Thank you so much, Hank 🙂 so good to see you ❤️
Ha! This took a twist, a thorn and red rose upside down. I like the title, parentheses and all.
Thank you so much, Colleen 😀 so glad you enjoyed it ❤️

This is how we recognize an unconditional love….
