Daylight arrives as the kind of rays that soothe the soul,
Outlining brilliant orange that hides behind the grayish sky;
Yielding not to thoughts that overthrow, despair and woes,
Obey, I obey, tracing tenderly the opposite of what overwhelms,
Uncompromising; my spirit, my essence, my very core.
There are things I will never escape,
Hypothetical, these thoughts that arise from the depths;
Indigo intention, come let us dust away all that stands in the way,
Nothing will ever change otherwise; does it cross your mind?
Kissable, come let us chase sunsets knowing they soon will fade.
Who holds your hand, warm enough when nearly
there are things I will always wonder, cappuccino
with passing mauve, be it lips, be it clouds, you
know itβs true, these questions run deep, atomic
tangerine, the horizon, eyes remember ache, acacia
clusters of white flowers typically thorny, amen.
Sleep doesnβt come easy when passages are abridgedΒ
its pattern not predictable, but words deserve a place,
let us be brazen, let us be bold, this heart abandon
not dreams that beg admission;
give in, golden in their wholesomeness, in their entirety.

Come join us! π The message within- “Do you think you can deny.”π
Oh I think that message is very well matched to the poem. I love the passages abridged… I feel it’s easy to get lost, like travelling without a map.
Thank you so much, Bjorn π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
As always, beautiful imagery and most especially, such strong affirmation in the ending lines.
Thank you so much, my dearest Lillian π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
(and thank you for the glorious prompt)
Some things cannot be denied. Whether we choose to act is always the question, which you lay out so clearly in your poem. Another beautiful poem, Sanaa.
Thank you so much, Lisa π so glad the poem resonated with you πβ€οΈ
Awesome. I could never.
Thank you so much, Ron π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
I love it…but I think I found 2 “N”s in deny; smile. Your romantic piece can stand alone, with passionate word-smithing, per usual. Somehow, even your darkest lines and thoughts ate tinged with tangerine tenderness.
Thank you so much, Glenn π so glad the poem resonated with you πβ€οΈ
This poem is simply gorgeous! It tantalises all the senses π I love the lines:
“come let us chase sunsets knowing they soon will fade.” And this whole section:
“… cappuccino
with passing mauve, be it lips, be it clouds, you
know itβs true, these questions run deep, atomic
tangerine, the horizon, eyes remember ache…”
Stunning <3
Thank you so much, Sunra π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
Beautiful line of chasing the sunset knowing they will fade. Love the message Sanaa and your voice here specially:
let us be brazen, let us be bold, this heart abandon
not dreams that beg admission;
give in, golden in their wholesomeness, in their entirety.
Thank you so much, Grace π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ

“Yielding not to thoughts that overthrow.”
Definitely π thanks for stopping by, Tzvi πβ€οΈ
Sanaa. How lovely. Strong sentiment here that I like: “I obey, tracing tenderly the opposite of what overwhelms” Let’s all let go of what overwhelmed. It’s superfluous. And then there’s this line:
“words deserve a place, let us be brazen, let us be bold, this heart abandon
not dreams that beg admission” Lovely messages I want to embrace. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Selma π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
