With a smile upon my lips I heave a sigh
As black capped chickadee sways on a tree
Observe as autumn clutches the forest green
While falling leaves adorn its path quietly ―
I admire the bird, its calm, its grit and poise
Hear it sing ‘neath blushing cerulean skies
I, through oh mellifluous tenor of nature ―
Gather wit and sense from a nobler time

This poem works on so many levels! Thank you for the chickadee and the autumn that “clutches the forest green
While falling leaves adorn its path quietly ”
And thank you for putting the narrator in the scene under a colorful sky amid the “”mellifluous tenor of nature”! Gosh. The circle opens now and then simultaneously.
And thank you Susan ❤ for the continued inspiration 😀 xo
We can learn a lot from those little birds in the trees 🙂

I love chickadees. We get many in our yard, especially in summer. Or perhaps it’s that I’m outside more in summer and see them. You’ve inspired me to step outdoors even and the air grows crisper to see if they are there still as fall is upon us.
Awww shucks ❤ thank you so much, Linda 🙂
Such beautiful poetry, Sanaa.
Thank you so much, Julian 🙂
This is pure delight, Sanaa. The rhyme and meter give it a lovely formal air, but it was the chickadee that pleased me most. They have been stopping by my office “tree house” on their way to wherever. Une signe d’automne, bien sur.

Such a sweet bird and photograph. I was swept away to a stillness, a moment of quiet in the forest where the only sounds were rustling leaves and the wildlife whose home I was visiting. Just lovely!
