While gazing upon the hope strewn sky
I think of you,
While observing a dandelion sun rising
I think of you,
To the world we may seem different but
in truth we’re one
mirroring each other’s differences shine
like a diamond in the rough.
To the bridges of yesterday come wave
goodbye, believe woe is a ghostly echo
which will grow weary with time.
As drops of warming rain lace the wind
I think of you,
While watching lone tulip raise its head
I think of you,
As surge of a moon-blanched ocean is
both chaos and calm,
remember courage is setting foot upon
a route to the unknown,
and sometimes it’s best to counsel with
our hearts alone.

Sisters can be the best, and of course the opposite, when least expected. Their attacks can be deadly…

So good! the dandelions rising and the tulips lifting their heads, so the appreciation of a sister grows. I haven’t any sisters, but I’m beginning, now that we’re past the midpoints of our lives, to experience this appreciation with my older brother.
Thank you so much, Susan π so glad you liked it β€οΈ

A lovely tribute to your sister, Sanaa, and I like the way ‘I think of you’ is a thread weaving the lines together. I especially love the lines:
‘To the bridges of yesterday come wave
goodbye, believe woe is a ghostly echo
which will grow weary with time’
and
‘remember courage is setting foot upon
a route to the unknown,
and sometimes itβs best to counsel with
our hearts alone’.

Ah, this is so beautiful in its repository of the unnamed feelings and their manifestation. All it takes is for the hearts’ counsel to prevail, in order to realize the love that exists and persists despite all the odds. I really like the way you create these images, like always. π
Thank you so much, Anmol π so glad you liked it β€οΈ
Curiously sisters I have know including my wife and hers were as close as can be . However with my brother and I it was completely differerent for he didn’t care for me at all and was quite a bully. My daughters too have a sisterly bond and I am so glad to see that. What a beautiful poem about that attachment Sanaa.
Thank you so much, Robin π so good to see you β€οΈ
This is a gentle explosion. I really like the soothing tones, and every line that tells this other person, “You are always in my mind and you are an influence.” But I adore, just love, the ending. Because I believe in that–yes, it is wonderful to count on one another, to celebrate how our differences make us better, bring us closer, but… we should never (not ever!) forget that every now and again, we must take some time to be with ourselves, and walk the world holding our own hand until we know it well.
Thank you so much, Magaly π so glad you enjoyed it β€οΈ
a dandelion sun.. what an awesome image that is!
Your poem made me think of my daughters, the sisters, so different yet so true to one another in so many gentle and decisive ways.
Aww gosh!β€οΈ Thank you so much, Kerry π so glad you liked it!β€οΈ
My sister and aren’t really parted except by geography. She came here to Houston and we spent a couple of afternoons together.
But it is with a couple of ex roommates that your write describes. On I’ve totally lost track of, even his parents, years and years ago. But he hasn’t left my life.
The other, we’ve kept track. He was best man 45 years ago when Mrs. Jim and I married. He texted this morning. He plans to attend our monthly retirement luncheon. I might go, I should.
Your final lines are sooo fitting:
“remember courage is setting foot upon
a route to the unknown,
and sometimes itβs best to counsel with
our hearts alone.:
..
Thank you so much, Jim π so good to see you β€οΈ
