Little (over the top)

Storm clouds, threatening the view outside.
I pondered seeing how bitter was the wind.
Although it seemed bad omen, atmosphere
inside was something else.

‘Bring us, two chocolate-covered strawberry
cheesecakes, I heard they have the best ones
here!’ I observed as he exchanged few words
with the waiter.

The looks he gave me were saccharine sweet
as though pretending I hadn’t noticed prices
right from the beginning. Soon the sun came
out bright as fire.

“Two hundred dollars!” he spluttered. “What
in the world’sΒ name did you order!” I flashed,
him a smile, smoothing the hem of my Marie
Claire gown.
