I am under the impression that

Spread the love

pain is invisible.
It can only be felt.
Its less than sympathetic heart rewinds lost moments;
buries one deep beneath the surface.
It dances across the skin,
leaving a trail of mauve affectionβ€” why does it come?
Why can’t it be seen?
Ragged at the edges, irrelevant, forgotten
and dismissed; it marks the soul first then body follows.

  1. I like the way the poem runs from the title directly into the first line. having had first-hand dealings with pain in many forms, i can really relate to this depiction.

  2. I, too, can relate to your words. How often Iβ€˜ve wanted the invisible to be seen if only for a moment of comfortβ£οΈπŸ‘πŸ™

    1. I agree, we can only see our/another’s reaction to it. I am so glad you liked that the title is part of the poem, Susie πŸ˜€ it was spontaneous πŸ’„β€οΈ

  3. … and if it scars it will remind you forever …
    “…buries one deep beneath the surface.
    It dances across the skin..”
    That reminds me of the Scabies under the skin worm. Good write, Sanaa.

  4. The invisibility of pain….it is for some. Others wear their pain visibly because it ravages the body as well as the soul.
    Excellent take on the prompt.
