Chaste Moon ~ Part Two: Blue Pause

The moon swallows everything;
seeking on every lover’s lips,
emptiness
how hefty the hours are—
you want bedlam to cease, don’t you?
I could use anything that gives me respite;
even the simple promise of Spring
from afar.

The cups are stained, murmurs unheard
never come off;
how merciless the eye of storm—
ravishing the masses and puffing them away
like smoke,
does this mean the world is ending?
There is no quick explanation,
things are becoming worse
and worse as we brood and sit here talking—
you put the sugar in coffee’s breath and it’s moist
with creamy, frothy conviction.

Dejection snarls at us with its teeth,
sharp
with a less than fragrant inheritance— who is it for?
The masses. Not necessarily a country,
or region in particular,
its unreturning tides are meant for everyone;
spreading what’s likely to be a blue pause—
you soothe me,
far beyond what Poetry can describe
in a time
when blood contaminates the ground;
I can hope to forget.

  1. A powerful depiction. I particularly admire, ‘Dejection snarls at us with its teeth’.

      Thank you so much, Rosemary 😀 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️

  2. Margaret says:

    “its unreturning tides are meant for everyone” … nice!

    – and let’s hope we have numerous “springs from afar” within us as I think we are going to need them!

    Gorgeous detail of a painting by Thomas Hudson –

    1. Sanaa says:

  3. Old Egg says:

    I don’t think the world is ending but we humans are pushing our luck for we are poor, careless and greedy users of this planet. Hopefully a few of us will remember and ensure we and our fellow creatures can continue but we have to admit we are at fault nobody else. Lets hope we see the light in time.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Definitely 🙂 thanks for stopping by, Robin 💄❤️

  4. I love the opening image, Sanaa, of the moon swallowing everything! The questions ‘you want bedlam to cease, don’t you?’ and ‘does this mean the world is ending’ are on so many people’s lips at the moment. My favourite metaphor:
    ‘you put the sugar in coffee’s breath and it’s moist
    with creamy, frothy conviction’
    and my favourite lines are:
    ‘its unreturning tides are meant for everyone;
    spreading what’s likely to be a blue pause’.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much, Kim 😀 so glad you enjoyed it 💄❤️

  5. gillena says:

  6. Jim says:

    There is Hope, perhaps not as wanted. “…unreturning tides are meant for everyone;
    spreading what’s likely to be a blue pause—
    you soothe me…”
    And an unasked question, what benefit ‘blue pause’ bestow?
    I’m about to check out Kerry’s wordlist, thank you for the heads up.

  9. You started us down romance path, and flipped us into the edge of chaos, the blue chariot to tomorrow. Excellent piece with impressive wordsmithing, many lines already noted.

  10. Frank Hubeny says:

    Nice description: “moist
    with creamy, frothy conviction.”

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much, Frank 🙂 so good to see you 💄❤️

  11. Goodness, from the very opening of your poem “the moon swallows everything” the imagery is profound. Will we drown in bedlam as we wait and watch the world falling to disease? I am clinging to every bit of hope I can find.

    1. Sanaa says:

      You and me both, Susie 😘 Thank you so much, so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️

  14. Kerfe says:

    “how merciless the eye of storm”–that is exactly right.

    1. Sanaa says:

      ❤️❤️❤️

  15. Rommy says:

    I hope that there is a time after all this madness is done. I hope people will look back at it as the time when we realized things could not keep going the way they had been. I hope.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much, Rommy 🙂 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️

  16. Of course I want bedlam to cease, but I’m afraid we in the U.S. have just barely opened the door to the place. Who knows what lies in store for us?

    1. Sanaa says:

      Hopefully everything will be all right soon 🙂 thanks for stopping by, MMT 💄❤️
