Across the hall a woman I see;
She played some naughty tricks on me.
Thought she was cool – thought she was fine
Must have lost my freaking mind.
Soon we danced on endlessly;
Lord what fools us mortals be.

Power to change the mind had she;
I bid the heart not fervent be.
Though eyes be closed yet I could see;
Crystal chandelier swinging free.

Like stars these chandeliers seem to be;
Hope against hope for chance to increase.
They say love is sweet – love is fine
They probably were just drunk on wine.

Her beauty was such – a dream sublime
Half forgot my thoughts and lines.
As future became present – present became past
Ignorant of what might come at last.

The maiden she flew before eyes could blink;
She lived for nothing but victuals and drink!
Mourning the amount which had been lost;
Startled how much her love had cost!

Should flee should run – oh what’s the use
Beautiful dame had me hung on noose.
They say love is sweet – love is fine
They probably were just drunk on wine.
