Untitled (of darkening skies and hope)

Spread the love

We are invariably at war,
                  feeding on resentment
                                 and hateful words.
I wonder often how
                              do we view the skies,
does turmoil sting
                              as dust does our eyes.

                                                                                     I listen for words that
                                                                                           breathe tolerance and peace,
                                                                                    those that soothe
                                                                                                  quickening pace of heart.
                                                  Let there be calm
                                                                                                    oh let there be quietude,
Let us dream of a warmer sun.

  1. Susan says:

I am with you. We have as little control of the forces of war and peace as we do the weather. O, wait! That isn’t true! We could alter the balance, I continue to believe. Love your poem!
