Under the Harvest Moon

Spread the love

Under the harvest moon
when light shimmers upon a bank of flowers
he gazed upon with a smile
as sweet as warm wind in summer
Passion lends new zest to lone and blissful hours
The blooming red fields
night whispers until the early hours of morn
she smiled and pointed north
to a thousand glittering stars
‘like misty rain, coming softly, but flooding the river’
oh let such love be ours

A perfect balance of mythos & sweet reality; nice take from the title of your chosen poem. I liked the line ‘like misty rain, coming softly, but flooding the river’.

  2. Kathy Reed says:

The moon in summer lends so much to lovers under it. Colors and smells, everything seems so alive, an escape from reality as long days are full of sunshine.
    Nice!

  3. Mish says:

Stunning work, Sanaa. Your choice of image works perfectly as well. I especially like…

“he gazed upon with a smile
as sweet as warm wind in summer”

  4. Vijaya says:

Lovely, romantic poem! Beautiful images in these lines:
    “she smiled and pointed north
    to a thousand glittering stars
‘like misty rain, coming softly, but flooding the river’
oh let such love be ours”

  5. Old Egg says:

There is nothing quite like the heat of summer to translate into a passionate love. I think this is one of your best Sanaa. (That means I wish I had written it!)

  6. Jae Rose says:

Your ending lines left my heart warm – some people are destined to see the wonder in stars and to be warm – no matter if it’s summer or winter – simply beautiful

  7. Magaly Guerrero says:

Now you have me thinking of the deliciousness of a summery October in June. The Harvest Moon is one of my favorite moons. I love the colors of that season, the smells in the air, the wondrous things that happen when the veil is thin…

    Such a treat, Sanaa ❤
