Poem inspired by the title of Robert Burns poetic masterpiece, “Up in the morning early.”

Up in the morning early
where does your mind go,
how far
are you willing to wander
in the bustle of day,
where waves of sepulchral dreams
await
recalling words of May;
and if I stay
would you hold me as darkening hills unfold?
