The time has come;
For us to succumb.
To own our ways;
To earn due praise.
Repeatedly time;
Lingers to our side.
Through affliction is;
Our solitary guide.
Woes and sorrows;
Time thus heals.
To Creator above;
Makes us kneel.
And so, when time;
To the end climbs,
Left behind are things;
Holding on like strings.
The time has come;
For us to succumb.
To own our ways,
To earn due praise.

Stanza three, also a fav. Our Pastor talked about how sorrow grows us into joy. Lots of wisdom in this poem for one so young.

The idea of holding on and the string likening works so well…it’s difficult to grasp that slipping-grain string. Great write.

I have lived your third stanza repeatedly over the last few years. I know the only reason I haven’t succumbed to the pain of all of it is there is a power greater than I holding me up. This is beautiful. Thank you for writing for the challenge.

Time is perhaps the first and last master we all face, and one we can never disobey–very perceptive.
Hello Hedgewitch,

I’m liking it, Sanaa. There comes a time, when we must trust ourselves. Pain is a great teacher, and like you say God wants us kneeling. If we don’t now, at the last times “every knee shall bow and every mouth confess …” That will be the final time for some.

That is pretty ironic to think about. I’ve always said that our actions are what defines our life and who we are. I think you did a wonderful job at narrating this within your poem with a good selection of word choice, and decently sized frame.

yes, sometimes it is time to allow ourselves to be healed after time passes. And so true that the creator can help this healing to take place.

I love poetry because each word carries meaning. Each word in this poem marches with the cadence of time. Time is aloof is it not? And yet our response is key.Well done Sunny One

Sanaa,
I have enjoyed interacting with you via Poetry Jam. Thank you..
Your poem is as though life itself has been set out before our eyes..Recognising that there will come a time when ‘we must leave behind things, and let go of strings.’ Superb, even a little sad..
Eileen
Hello Eileen,

Sanaa, I loved these lines,
“Woes and sorrows;
Time thus heals.
To Creator above;
Makes us kneel.”
Time is surely a great healer and the Creator helps if we kneel and ask for help. Entire poem reads beautifully!
