She woke to the scent of magnolia trees; watching
as the sun bathed the hills in gentle apricot light.
Thus crossing the room towards the window sill;
she caught the dappled splotches of sun and shade
filtering through her tender palm. “I desire not rain
nor fear the onset of a storm. Lo! pour me drops of
glorious sunshine; grace to mold the maiden form.

Thus a shower of sunlight falls through the trees;
like faith light threaded through psalm. She ran
through fields brimming with hope; waving high
above to glittering calm. “Lo! red maples tread thru
haze of fire; chanting artless notes ‘neath parochial
guise. Hail to birth and death of sun; while slumber
seals thus wearied eyes.”

Tumult and peace as darkness and light;
Let instinct penetrate thus soul to sight.
