Love-Birds

Fischer’s lovebirds perched upon a limb;
Their whistles and song as spoken word.
I melt as though the heart had stirred.

I meditate upon their fearless flight;
As though echoes of a familiar chord
Melodies sweet in the gale are heard.

On blossom and bough they followed suit;
Where citrus and olive are fairest of fruit.
How often I pause on their motley charm;
As the slumber of sun in the ocean’s arms.
Lovebirds sing one song for me;
Rouse thus soul to roam on free.
