As changing leaves in November,
as secrets I carry with me
into sleep,
fascinated by shimmering kisses
that hurt,
I pen down thoughts of the moment.
There are days when Iβm the wind
urging earth to wrap its arms around me
and closer keep.

Yes, lovely phrase: ‘shimmering kisses’. And that they hurt gives a whole new depth immediately.
Our November winds here are wild, strong bursts causing havoc; not sure you would wish to be them, lol. Better to be your gentler one, seeking a hug from the earth.
Thank you so much, Rosemary π so glad you enjoyed it β€οΈ
Every now and again, my dearest Sanaa, you share a line that says so many things; “fascinated by shimmering kisses / that hurt” is one of those. Those words make me think about how some relationships can be murder on our hearts, while feeling so good to the skin.

I like the idea of the earth wrapping one’s arms around one. How comforting that might be! I also think it would be wonderful if we also wrapped our arms around the earth as well. It would be a beautiful picture to consider both!! A beautiful quadrille, and a comforting one!

Very nice, Sanaa. In general the poem to me had a sad note, lingering to be made open. The last two lines did for me, I was imagining a “Death Wish” here. We all probably have had those at times.
