Do you ever consider what it might be like?
Barefoot, hovering in spaces
between silences
which erase themselves by morningβ
I taste an emotion inexplicable,
swirling pink
amidst a bed of brambles and unfamiliar leaves;
the thorns
have a thing or two to teach.

Lovely words Sanaa, and your reading was wonderful.
Thank you so much, Linda π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
Lovely to hear you reading, Sanaa. I like the sudden reminder of the thorns at the end. They do have something to teach us, I guess.

I love the title, the direct address and question of the opening line, Sanaa, which hooked me immediately. But my favourite lines are:
βBarefoot, hovering in spaces
between silences
which erase themselves by morningβ.
The image you chose has me hankering after blackberry fool!
Thank you so much, Kim π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
Very delicate, tripping carefully between the thorns. I like this one!
Thank you so much, Jane π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
This one is a knockout, powerful yet tender; inspiring. As poets we do search through the silence between lines, and I say,”Damn the thorns–full words ahead!”
Absolutely! Full words ahead! Thank you so much, Glenn π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
Yes, they do. Wonderful to hear you read your poem, Sanaa.

Such beautiful and wonderful words here. It’s very delicate and careful like a slow stride on a lone path; it is concise, it is deliberate and I love that feeling I got here when first reading it. This is fantastic. Excellent take on the prompt.

The idea of being barefoot among the brambles, whatever we conceive the brambles to be, really caught my imagination in this poem. Lovely, Saana.
Thank you so much, Jo-Anne π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
I’ve been there, but wearing long sleeves, jeans and gloves in mother’s blackberry patch behind the barn! Thanks for the memories.

oh they sure do! they sure do. but the berries teach too.
and if you eat them all in the field, there won’t be enough for a pie…

Whatever those brambles may be, they do hurt!
Absolutely! Thanks for stopping by, Christine πβ€οΈ
‘the thorns / have a thing or two to teach’ is a great concluding line. Reminds me of being stabbed twice and again by the same thorn – and thinking it wouldn’t dare strike again. Ha.
