Looking for a Reason

img_8764

Spending all night;
Dreaming of you.
The smile on your face;
Similar to morning dew.

With every changing,
Season.
I m looking for a,
Reason.

Unable to concentrate;
Your words fill my mind.
Making it even worse;
While our fingers entwine.

With every changing,
Season.
I m looking for a,
Reason.

Can’t decipher whether love;
Whether infatuation.
Resting upon the desk;
Bright pink carnation.

With every changing,
Season.
I m looking for a,
Reason.

Hence moving on;
Embraced this notion.
Love towards you;
Has depth of an ocean.

With every changing,
Season.
I m looking for a,
Reason.

Looking for a ReasonΒ (revised version of 3rd May’15 poem above)

Amid soft whispers exchanged bold stares
I feigned not passion nor feigned I delight
Playing upon sweet lips distilled with dew
I dream of your smile in the hush of night

With every changing season
I’m (still) looking for a reason

Unable to concentrate as your words engulf
I gasp as rose and lily kissed amorous vine
Omitted paragraphs have embroiled sense
Making it even worse as our fingers entwine

With every changing season
I’m (still) looking for a reason

Oh can’t decipher whether love or infatuation
Perhaps I breathe what’s termed as lover’s sigh
Still poised upon bureau a crisp pink carnation
While in rustling conflict bluebirds fill the sky

With every changing season
I’m (still) looking for a reason

Now the heart can think of no greater devotion
Often a greatest triumph is a willing surrender
I figured love’s but sweet old fashioned notion
Cause love towards you has depth of an ocean

With every changing season
I’m (still) looking for a reason

  33. Wow, what a torrent of wonderful responses. I’m glad to get in line to add my insights & praise. I prefer the revised version–the messages are clearer, reminding us that it can be hard work to build a bridge from lust to love, from honeymoon to mundane routines & respect. For me the refrains really enrich & enlighten the new one.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much Glenn, as ever for your kindness and wisdom πŸ™‚

  35. Kim Russell says:

    I think I came too late – everyone else has said what I wanted to say. Romantic and passionate, as always. I like the revised version very much, it has a stronger shape that is enhanced by the insertion of ‘(still)’ in the refrain, which works so well in this poem. Have a wonderful weekend, Sanaa. Much love xx

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much Kim ❀️ so glad you liked it.

  36. Though I often prefer simpler poems, I love the lushness of your revised version and think it is a great improvement. I also think you have been visibly developing as a poet since I first started reading your work, and the revised version shows that – I think it is how you would write such a piece now, even without Victoria’s suggestions.

    1. Sanaa says:

      Thank you so much Rosemary πŸ™‚ for everything ❀️

  37. Sumana Roy says:

    Love them both…the second version has changed a lot but the magic of the refrain of the first one remains the same here also…beautiful Sanaa…
