Aggression sticks to everything, being the main cause of black rain
to erupt
from the once compliant sky—
words are fetal
for even fireflies can lose their light;
a mason jar filled with never to be read notes,
is this how it’s going to be?
Is this what we are expected to endure;
black-eyed susans ripped apart in hopes of puncturing equality—
it’s no mystery
where and what the pattern is pointing to; yet I defy by breathing
soft and steady.
