Speak to me;
inundate with your eyes until the fields are awash,
now and forever
in the pink city of my heart where we stand before each other—
feverish
and yet willing to bridge the chasm with wretchedness forgotten.
Come what may;
we must convey through a single ignition of this phrase,
taste the saltiness of each other’s views and opinions;
isn’t this what Persephone initially dreamed of?
I have seen many a cloud shudder when the earth’s shook
with flowers,
a cross between blood red and fuchsia—
dear harrowed, hapless and hurting, I am conscious of sharp tang
of emotional trauma and pain,
let your song hurtle through the startled air, uninhibited.
Sweet is the promise of rain after a long drought,
let me be the answer; let me be the answer.

Gorgeous yearning words for grace through connection
“Come what may;
we must convey through a single ignition of this phrase,
taste the saltiness of each other’s views and opinions;”
love the ending refrain too
Thank you so much, Laura 😀 so glad you liked it 💄❤️
(and thank you for the glorious prompt)
Oh Sanaa, your poem is lovely, from ‘inundate with your eyes until the fields are awash’, to ‘taste the saltiness of each other’s views and opinions; and the romantic ending:
‘Sweet is the promise of rain after a long drought,
let me be the answer; let me be the answer.’
Thank you so much, my dearest Kim 😀 so glad you enjoyed it 💄❤️
beautiful and light, my favorite line:
“I have seen many a cloud shudder when the earth’s shook
with flowers,”
Thank you so much, Lisa 😀 so good to see you 💄❤️
‘dear harrowed, hapless and hurting, I am conscious of sharp tang’ – there is so much empathy and lovingkindness in your words, Sanaa: I would be surprised if anyone could refuse your entreaty 💖
Thank you so much, Ingrid 😀 so glad you liked it 💄❤️
This is so wonderfully dreamy, and that last couplet is really wonderful, especially the affirmation of that repetition.
Thank you so much, Bjorn 😀 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️

I so love the longing and heart felt desire, specially the ending lines:

let me be the answer; let me be the answer.
Thank you so much, Grace 😀 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️

I love the acceptance in this.
“dear harrowed, hapless and hurting, I am conscious of sharp tang
of emotional trauma and pain,
let your song hurtle through the startled air, uninhibited.”
Then you ending lines of love,
“Let me be the answer.”
Beautiful, just beautiful.
Thank you so much, Alicia 😀 so glad you enjoyed it 💄❤️
I love your sweet and tender poem from the heart! I think I can understand why you chose this line, being the great romantic that you are and watering everyone else around you with your sunshine and warmth! Thank you for being who your are….
Awwww gosh! Thank you so much, Dwight 😀 that is so sweet of you to say so! 💄❤️
such an ardent heartfelt plea, your imagery is provoking … you can not be refused!
❤️❤️❤️
‘taste the saltiness of each other’s views and opinions’
This line is the most beautiful for me, out of all the beauty. Wonderful writing.
Thank you so much, Freya 😀 so good to see you 💄❤️
Sanaa: you absolutely write the penultimate poems of romance that literally make me gasp aloud at poem’s end. But the word “romance” seems a petty word to use, applied to your writing. Your words are always so elegant….they take “romantic” to the sublime.
In this write, I especially loved these words
“taste the saltiness of each other’s views and opinions;” — and then the contrast of the blood red and fuschia….
Another wonderful write!
Awwww gosh! Thank you so much, my dearest Lillian 😀 so glad you enjoyed it 💄❤️
(You are always so generous with praise) 🙂
This line: “we must convey through a single ignition of this phrase” calling for the endearment held in the promise of the line from Thomas Aquinas is the strongest, fed by the longing that is woven throughout your poem. Wonderfully done.
Thank you so much, Ken 😀 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️
What a stunning write Sanaa! Your words are captivating.
Thank you so much, Linda 😀 so glad you liked it 💄❤️
Oh my, this is amazing!
Thank you so much, Mary 😀 so good to see you 💄❤️
“let your song hurtle through the startled air, uninhibited.” This esp. but all of it is beautiful
Thank you so much, Debi 😀 so glad you enjoyed it 💄❤️
The first thought I had … how incredibly rich! Words that conveyed amazing color, art that captured the feeling of your poem.
Thank you so much, Helen 😀 so glad the poem resonated with you 💄❤️
