Sable or black? Consistency and sometimes misery.
Her lips symptomatic speak of simple joys–
in this surrealistic reality
where the moon mahogany-red shies away from human greed
and psyche;
being lesser nocturnal out of the two,
the clouds, freshly scented, bear witness to abduction.
Hades, haunted by Persephone’s ethereal beauty
offers
a few pomegranate seeds,
just as the rain begins to fall at the end of a hot
and oppressive day;
her mouth despite the coolness outside is dry,
with thoughts
fumbling and every song broken, the inky silhouette of desire
already has her in its arms–
that she is the one he wants is implacable and clear.
There is nothing more deceptive than a detail clearly sketched,
basil, clover, bellis and shadow mourn
as some days
the world moves too quickly and other times slow.

you have taken this most dramatic of myths and given it a twist of your own full of the underlying dark passion
“with thoughts
fumbling and every song broken, the inky silhouette of desire
already has her in its armsβ”
Thank you so much, Laura π so glad the poem resonated with you πβ€οΈ
You had me at “the inky silhouette of desire already had her in its arms.” I like poetics that embrace and attach to legend and fantasy. Your romantic bent prevails, and is well received.

A marvellous mythological remoulding. Sanaa, both sensual and romantic. I love the way you describe:
βher mouth despite the coolness outside is dry,
with thoughts
fumbling and every song broken, the inky silhouette of desire
already has her in its armsβ.

A very erotic piece, Sanaa. I also liked the phrase, “the inky silhouette of desire” and the wisdom of the line, “There is nothing more deceptive than a detail clearly sketched,”

I like it when myths are re-told to consider the female character’s perspective: you have done this so well here, with such haunting imagery: a pleasure to read.
Thank you so much, Ingrid π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
Oh, I love this so much! You’ve covered the myth with lyricism beautiful imagery. And I liked how you show her temptation–almost a courtship, rather than an abduction.
Thank you so much, Merril π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
