Magnolias know not of sinful taste;
uncomplicated as they are,
I could be wrong, (and I sometimes am)
but I sense, you feel it too,
donβt you?
Iβll give you
adoration,
certainty without caveats,
and a lasting embrace
for every
gorgeous
inch
of you.

Merril is our hostess today at dVerse and the word
is “embrace.” Come join us! π
I think magnolias know more than we might think… maybe that’s why we love to have them close.
Most probably! Thank you so much, Bjorn π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
So sweet and romantic! I like the bit of hesitancy, like a beginning romance. I think you and Bjorn are right about magnolias. They certainly are beautiful!
Thank you so much, Merril π so glad you enjoyed it πβ€οΈ
(and thank you for the glorious prompt) πΉ
No caveats is saying a lot. It must be easy for a magnolia who gives and receives pleasure but for a day. Passionate pleas, Sanaa!
Thank you so much, Lisa π so good to see you πβ€οΈ
Ah, the magnolia, a gorgeous shrub, Sanaa. Iβve always wanted one in our garden β maybe after our final house move, hopefully close to my daughter β although the blossoms donβt last very long. Someoneβs lucky to get a lasting embrace like that!
Thank you so much, my dearest Kim π so glad the poem resonated with you πβ€οΈ
(yes hopefully!) π
Such a lovely romantic quadrille Sanaa!

Your poem is so romantic and delicate Sanaa. Beautiful words for Valentineβs Day π₯°
Thank you so much, Christine π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
I love this! It’s romantic, sensual, and seductive. It fits the tone and mood for Valentine’s day so well. I loved these lines the most, admittedly:
“Magnolias know not of sinful taste;
uncomplicated as they are,
I could be wrong, (and I sometimes am)”
Makes me think of how lovers embrace the chaos of the other and what we can consider “depraved” with our feelings. But, that’s probably the most appealing thing about it, that not everyone is “innocent” and that we can embrace the darkest parts too. That’s what I adore about this piece, inching along flirtation and romanticism. It’s raw and so utterly passionate.
Awww gosh! Thank you soo much, Lucy π so glad you enjoyed it! πβ€οΈ
Lucy nailed it. This is a romantic poem with dark edges. Those first budding embraces following flirtation, are alway molten, A thousand kisses later (as Leonard Cohen sang) it may be more difficult to keep the temperature and tempo up.
Thank you so much, Glenn π so glad the poem resonated with you πβ€οΈ
Very nice! Tres romantique!

Yes, very romantic, though I’ve never understood what people see in magnolias. I like the unconditional giving.
Thank you so much, Jane π so glad you liked it πβ€οΈ
My daughter lives in Oregon, where they have magnificent magnolia treesl Your poem is subtly romantic and promising.

May sound like it’s for your partner but I’ll enjoy it too … a magnolias are blooming now, the perfume
